My wife and I are involved in the Second Mile Ministry at the Bridge Church in Corona.
While we were hanging out in the park with our friends this Saturday, after I had finished praying for one of the little homeless women she shared a story with me.
She mentioned that one of her sons had gotten into an accident several years ago where he rolled his truck down an embankment and hit a tree. The truck hit with such force that it was bent into a V shape.
Her son then asked her if his dad had thanked the 7 men that helped him and saved his life.
Later when talking to her husband about it, he said that their son had made the request of him. He questioned all of the witnesses but no one saw anyone helping their son!
Mom then knew that these were Angels that her son had saw helping him.
Our God is so good and He is an ever present source of help in times of trouble. Psa 46:1
Now, I do not want to turn this post into a technical enumeration of all the mentions of Angels in the bible. But there are a couple I think are worth mentioning.
Psa 91:11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
Psa 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Dan 6:22 My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.
Heb 1:7,14 And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire. Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?
There have been some amazing accounts of Angels fighting battles on God’s behalf. And probably the most incredible one can be found in 2 Kings 6:17. What I would give to be that assistant who saw all of those Angels on the mountain ready for battle with horses and chariots!
And there are others where I believe it is implied. For example, in 2 Chr 20 God told the king that he would not have to fight the battle that was shaping against 3 invading armies. When the kings army got to the place where the battle was to take place “they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.” [ verse 24 ]
It is clear that Angels are waiting at the ready to be dispatched at any moment at the command of God.
But God uses people too. He can prompt us (via the Holy Spirit bearing witness to our spirit) to help others. [ Rom 8:16-17 ]
So do not be surprised if you are compelled to help someone in an extraordinary way – one way He enables you to do that is by dispatching Angels – ministering spirits – to help.
Or if you cry out to God and something (like the account above) happens that defies logic.
That is because Angels are standing at the wait – to help.
Yes, God IS an ever present help in times of trouble.
